In 1979, Honda introduced the Honda MB road-model and Honda MT offroad-model motorcycles in Europe. The MB would be released in the U.S. in 1982, where they would be produced for one year. In Europe, production lasted until 1991. Both models were 50 cc, two-stroke motorcycles (80 cc variants of both models exist). In Europe they were aimed at the moped market for 16-year olds, the age at which a person can drive a 50 cc motorcycle in most European countries.

The successors of the MB and MT, the MBX and MTX, were released only in Europe. The MBX was produced from 1983 to 1986, and the MTX from 1982 to 1985. There are 80 cc and 125 cc variants of both the MBX and MTX, with a 200 cc variant of the MTX as well.

Many of these 50 cc motorcycles are still in use in Europe today, a sign of the quality with which these machines were built. There are also many types of aftermarket parts available. At present, the MB and MT are probably the motorcycles with the widest selection of imitation and aftermarket parts available in Europe.
