Nippi Scooters Three Wheel Motor Scooter


Short Description
A three wheeled motor scooter which is road registerable in Queensland and which can be driven by a person whilst they are seated in their wheelchair. The wheelchair rolls on and off the scooter via a ramp which is raised by a lever handle and becomes the tailgate. Can be customised.

More Details
MATERIALS: Steel chassis with moulded fibreglass body panels. A heavy customized steel sub-frame has to be built and attached to the wheelchair, to lock it to the NIPPI.

CONTROLS: LEFT HAND : * Blinker switch * Rear brake ( with lock in lever for parking ) * Headlight dimmer switch * Horn.
RIGHT HAND : * Front brake * Key Starter * Throttle twist grip * Parking light / headlight switch.
WARNING LIGHTS : Oil , Blinker , Headlight.
GAUGES : Speedo , Fuel.

MOTORS: Single cylinder 2 stroke 101cc Honda engine. 8.6 BHP at 6750 rpm. Electric Starter

WHEELS: Front and rear 350 x 10" 4 ply.

BRAKES: Twin rear drum brakes lock for parking.Single front.

OUTPUT: Top speed 80 KPH.

MECHANISM: Transmission : " Automatic " single ration with centrifugal clutch. No reverse is fitted.

CUSTOMISED FEATURES: Modifications : Will be done at extra charge, examples are - * Positioning controls on left side. * Locking fixtures for electric chair. * Key lever.

POINTS TO CONSIDER: Legal details : The NIPPI is a registered vehicle in Queensland. A motorcycle licence is required as well as an occupational therapy driving assessment and doctor`s certificate. A speed limit of 80kph is enforced. The wheelchair must be locked in position and a lap seat belt must be worn. A helmet must be worn.

COMMENTS: An economical vehicle which avoids the need for transfers out of a wheelchair.
No reverse gear
No weather protection.
Good arm and grip strength needed to pull wheelchair up ramp, elevate ramp and steer or brake.
Lever which closes tailgate may be difficult to push forward for some users.

SAFETY: Engine cannot be started unless brake is engaged.

WARRANTY: Normal Honda warranty applies to mechanical parts. Servicing done by Honda dealer.
